The personal life of Guru Dutt was not happier to say because he contained a strained relationship with his parents especially with his mother’s family.
Also, his married life was also a disaster although he got married after 3 years of engagement and huge opposition of his family.
It is said that his relationship with Waheeda Rehman went totally against his married life. Guru Dutt’s brother Atmaram stated at one point about his personal life that “he was a strict disciplinarian as far as work was concerned, but totally undisciplined in his personal life.”
Guru Dutt and Geeta Dutt lived great bonding in the starting phase of their relationship and blessed with 3 children Tarun Dutt, Arun Dutt & Nina Dutt but later they got saperated and at the time of Guru Dutt’s death he was living alone.
Guru Dutt consisted habit of heavy drinking and smoking. As well as, Geeta Dutt was also a heavy drinker and due to liver damage after excessive drinking, she died just after 8 years of dismissal of his husband.
Their children grew up in the families of Atmaram (Guru Dutt’s brother) and Mukul Roy (Geeta Dutt’s brother) after the death of couple.
