Guru Dutt’s career was short but one of the most successful ones in the Bollywood film industry. When he arrived in Mumbai to live with his parents his uncle helped him to get a job in Pune based Prabhat Film Company.
During this job he met with two persons who are said to be his best friends in the film industry i.e. Dev Anand and Rehman which was successful actors of the industry and Dutt worked with them in many projects.
Dutt started his film career by doing small roles in some movies as well as working as an assistant director and choreographer for some projects but later he directed Baazi which got huge appreciation.
As an actor also he did some classical movies that got huge appreciation and success at box office like C.I.D., Pyaasa, Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Kaagaz Ke Phool and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam.
He set his standard very high in terms of acting and vision but he bound to one type of cinema that is the reason his best friend Dev Anand said in an interview about him that “He was a young man; he should not have made depressing pictures.”
The popularity of Guru Dutt took a new height in the era of 50s and still we found his work extraordinary and delight to watch his movies.
