The death of Guru Dutt remained history as on his bed under his Pedder Road, Mumbai’s rented apartment he found dead. The cause of death was said to be suicide and said that he drank alcohol by mixing sleeping pills and that was his third attempt of suicide.
The son of Guru Dutt named Arun Dutt stated about his death that “My father had sleeping disorders and popped sleeping pills like any other person. That day he was drunk and had taken an overdose of pills, which culminated in his death. It was a lethal combination of excessive liquor and sleeping pills.”
It is also said that Dutt had many appointments scheduled in the afternoon especially with Raj Kapoor and Mala Sinha for their upcoming film “Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi”.
On October 10, 1964, we lost a genius mind and a gem for Bollywood film industry but his work will always be recognised.
During the time of his dismissal he was working two major projects. First one was movie ‘Picnic’ with actress Sadhana which was shelved later and another one was K. Asif’s directed ‘Love and God’ which was released in 1986 with main lead Sanjeev Kumar.
